FAQ'S

Why is handmade soap better than store bought?

Most big brand store bought soaps contain detergents and are technically not classified as soap at all! Next time you see a soap commercial on television, pay closer attention. Did they refer to it as soap or “something else”? True soap is simply an emulsification of oils and salt. Commercial soaps tend to be extremely drying and irritating to the skin. Reason being, the glycerin naturally occurring in soap is a profitable by-product. Instead of keeping the natural moisturizing qualities in the soap, these companies choose to sell its glycerin and leave the bar of soap with very little moisturizing properties. We think it's best to leave soap in its naturally occurring, ultra-moisturizing state.

How long will my bar of handmade soap last?

Longer than you might think! We utilize ingredients that will make a firm, yet moisture packed bar of soap. Our bars are cured for a full 4-6 weeks so you'll receive 100% pure soap! On average, each bar will last about a month with daily use. Remember to use a draining soap dish which will prevent soggy soap and will maximize its life span.

What if I have allergies?

If you have any allergies, PLEASE READ OUR INGREDIENTS LIST THROUGHLY. Many of our products contain vegan-friendly ingredients such as oat, rice or coconut milk, or essential oils, dye and fragrance-free. These may be a suitable alternative for you, and sometimes our product may not suit your skin type at all, so please keep that in mind, although we do hope we have created a product that suits your skin type. If you have any uncertainty, please feel free to contact us for clarification. If you experience any irritation, discontinue use right away!

What is the difference between essential oil and fragrance oil?

Essential oils are purely extracted from their source and have therapeutic effects. Fragrance oils are synthetically created for the purpose of scent, but are safe for use on skin. If you find your skin easily irritated by fragrance; essential oil might be a great alternative for you! Our products formulated with essential oils are suitable for sensitive skin, though you should always consult with your doctor if you’re unsure!

What if my soap has imperfections?

Handcrafted soap is processed and cut by hand; thus no two bars will be exactly alike. Temperature can make color appear slightly different from batch to batch, while design may also vary. Small pockets of air may form from a thick batter being poured. It does not affect the quality of the soap in the least! You may also witness “soda ash” which is a harmless powder-like substance that forms when new soap meets air or has a rapid drop in temperature. This will completely disappear during the soap’s first use.

What ingredients are used in your handmade soaps?

Distilled water, Olive oil, Coconut oil, Sunflower oil, Rice Bran, Sustainable palm oil, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Castor oil, Stearic acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Skin-safe fragrance, Kaolin clay, Goats, Coconut, Rice, or Oat milk, Whipping cream, Salt and Sugar, Skin-safe colorant. Our Vegan-friendly and Nut-free soaps are all plant-based. Please see description of each listing for full details.

Why is lye used in handmade soap?

Lye isn't nearly as scary as it sounds. Lye is a sodium used as a binding agent in skincare products and food. The good news? It has completely evaporated by the time soap has cured and is ready to be sold! While caustic in its active state, it's necessary to produce the chemical reaction that turns oils into soap.

Why does my soap look slightly different from what’s on your website?

When you purchase a soap from our website, you will not always get the bar that was features in the photos, but a re-make of that item. Because of its handmade nature, an exact duplication is almost impossible, however we do try our best to make it as close as possible, if not better. In short, you will receive a variation of the product, which can be in color, swirl details, design, weight, or cut.

                                                       What is "cold process" soap?

Cold-processed soap is made by mixing sodium hydroxide (lye) with water, blending it with fatty oils, and adding essential or fragrance oils and natural colorants, clays or pigments. They are then poured into molds and take 24 hours to become soap (saponify).
